[ when steve turns onto eddie's street, it isn't far to his trailer. steve parks outside, then slips out quickly, pocketing his keys. he knocks on eddie's door, soft, just in case. he doesn't want to startle eddie, especially like this. his brows knit, hair falling across his brow. he's concerned, and it's etched on his features. ]
Eddie?
[ again, soft, but there are hints of worry in his voice. another knock, and steve then stands with his hands on his hips, trying his best not to bust down the door. he knows that wouldn't help, but eddie is on the other side, and there's a flash of panic. ]
( going out this late at night had probably been a bad idea. he needed the money, though, and someone had offered quite a bit of cash, more than he usually charged, to make a house call. eddie just didn't expect his van to choose this of all times to die on him. it probably just needs a jump start, but he won't worry about that right now; his main priority is getting out of here and staying safe.
he's curled up into a ball by the time steve arrives. every little noise sounds amplified, even with the windows all rolled up. eddie knows it's just his mind playing tricks on him, but he also knows the horrors that lurk in the night thanks to the upside down. whether it's possible those creatures are still out there despite all the portals being closed is anyone's guess. besides, if the upside down is possible, then surely there could be other dangers, right?
he yelps at the knock on the door before relaxing when he realizes it's just steve. he slowly emerges from his duck and cover position before flipping the lock and opening the door. )
